Gustavo Pizzi

Director and Screenwriter

 

Gustavo Pizzi is a director, screenwriter and producer. His first feature film was the documentary "Pretérito Perfeito" released in 2008. His first fiction, "Riscado" (2010), premiered on SXSW and was shown at over 50 international festivals. It was awarded at festivals such as Gramado - Best Direction, Screenplay, Actress, Soundtrack and Best Film jury of Criticism; in addition to the APCA for Best Screenplay of the year 2012.

Gustavo was the director of the documentary series "Oncotô" (TV Brasil, 2012 e 2013) and was one of the screenwriters of the fiction series "Me Chama de Bruna" (Fox Premium - 2016 e 2018). In 2018, released "Benzinho", which debuted at the Sundance international competition and followed at various festivals such as Rotterdam, Gottemburg, Malaga (Best Film of the Official Jury, Best Film of the Critics and Best Film of the Audience), Karlovvary, CPH PIX, among many others. Benzinho was sold to the commercial circuit of 25 territories and debuted in Gramado being one of the main winners of 2018. He also won the 2019 APCA Award for Best Screenplay and was the winner of the 2019 Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix - Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Actress and Supporting Actress. Pizzi directed the fiction series in 4 episodes, "Os Últimos dias de Gilda". He is in the development phase of three new feature films, in which he will be both screenwriter and director.
