Anita Rocha da Silveira

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Anita Rocha da Silveira wrote and directed three short films: O Vampiro do Meio-Dia, Handebol (FIPRESCI Award at the Int. Short Film Festival Oberhausen), and Os Mortos-Vivos (Cannes Directors' Fortnight). Her first feature film, Mate-me por Favor, premiered at the Orizzonti Showcase of the Venice Film Festival, where she received the Bisato d'Oro for Best Performance, awarded by independent Italian critics.

She has participated in festivals such as SXSW, New Directors/New Films, AFI Fest, Bafici, Indie Lisboa, Janela Internacional de Cinema do Recife, Festival de Havana, Filmfest Munchen and La Roche-sur-Yon IFF, and has received awards for Best Director and Best Actress at the Rio Film Festival, and Best Picture at the Int Festival. of Cine de Cali and in Panorama Int. Coisa de Cinema. Medusa, selected for the Directors' Fortnight at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, is her second feature film.
