Daniel Lieff

Director

Daniel Lieff studied economics at USP but always loved cinema. In Lisbon, as an intern at an advertising agency, he stepped onto the first film set of his life: "O mosquitinho me mordeu" (The Little Mosquito Bit Me). Daniel is known for telling multiple stories that generate interest and emotion, and also for his great aesthetic and cinematic care. His experience in various areas of audiovisual and his ability to interact with the team are also highly praised, especially his attention to the cast and acting.

He worked as an assistant director in advertising, shorts, and feature films at O2 filmes, founded by Fernando Meirelles. Later, as a freelancer, he filmed campaigns in more than 15 countries for directors and production companies from Brazil and abroad.

As a director, he debuted with the documentary "Deus e o Diabo em Cima da Muralha" at the invitation of Dráuzio Varella (Best Film at Mostra de SP, 2007) and inaugurated the brand content area at Conspiração. He worked for clients such as Coca-Cola, Puma, UN, GM, Apple, P&G, and Vale, winning the first Latin American Grand Prix with the film "Dia de reflexão" (Cannes Corporate Film Awards, 2012), along with other awards in Berlin, SP, and NY.

He co-directed, with Breno Silveira, the documentary "Oficial dos Jogos Olímpicos Rio 2016" (Days of truce, 2017), at the invitation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Back to fiction, he co-directed three seasons of the series "Um contra todos" (One Against All) (Conspiração / Fox / Disney), nominated twice for the International Emmy (Best Drama Series - 2018/19).

He premiered his first feature film "Alice & Só" (Fox Searchlight) in cinemas in 2020. He was the general director of the series "Vale dos esquecidos" (O2 / HBO), which premiered in August 2022, staying in the Top 10 LATAM for several weeks.

He directed two episodes of "Amar é para os fortes" (Love is for the Strong) (Pródigo / Prime Video) based on the work of Marcelo D2 in 2023 and developed and was the general director of the series "Últimas férias" (Last Vacation) (Intro Pictures / Star+ / Disney), created in partnership with the Argentine production company Pampa filmes, airing in 2023.

"I believe that the passion for telling good stories - regardless of the format - is the filmmaker's daily fuel."
